Success for Chichester's Tourist Information Centre at the Beautiful South Awards
Chichester's Tourist Information Centre (TIC) has been awarded a coveted Bronze in the category Visitor Information Service Provider of the Year at the Beautiful South Awards 2017.
Presented by TV and radio celebrity Toby Anstis, the Awards saw 71 prestigious gold, silver and bronze trophies handed out along with 20 highly commended certificates.
The award serves as recognition of another successful year for Chichester's Tourist Information Centre at The Novium Museum. Since April, the box office has sold over 6,000 tickets for events in the district. The Novium Museum has welcomed over 35,000 visitors this year, with the TIC helping almost 2,000 people. The TIC has also helped nearly 100 visitors find accommodation in the district.
"It's a real honour for Chichester's Tourist Information Centre to have been recognised in this year's prestigious Beautiful South Awards," says Councillor Eileen Lintill, Cabinet Member for Community Services at Chichester District Council. "To receive the Bronze Award for Visitor Information Provider of the Year is a reflection on the whole team and a great achievement."
The Awards are run by Tourism South East to recognise and celebrate excellence in the industry. Held at the Grand Hotel Brighton, the ceremony celebrated the fantastic visitor experiences available across the South and South East of England.
The awards attracted 143 entries and judging took account of the entry form, along with a combination of web searches, review sites, emails, telephone calls, visits and value for money. For the finalists, the panel was looking for all elements to be excellent, with some of them outstanding.
"Last night reminded me again of the sheer quality of tourism businesses in the South East," says Nigel Smith, Chief Executive of Tourism South East. "Never mind the UK; some easily stand up to comparison with the very best tourism businesses in the world.
"All of the finalists can be very proud of what they have achieved through a commitment to reinvestment, training and a relentless drive to be the best. I hope their example will inspire others.
"I want to thank headline sponsor the Grand Brighton and the rest of our sponsors who made the Awards possible and our volunteer independent judges who gave their time and expertise so readily. Making decisions when the entries are so diverse and of such high quality is an unenviable task. I am looking forward to our winners taking on England's best at the Visit England Awards."
