Chichester Roman Week
Join us in May half term and experience Chichester's award-winning Roman Week!
Led by The Novium Museum and supported by our partners, we've created a diverse programme of events celebrating the rich Roman heritage of Chichester and beyond. Each day of our packed programme promises to bring the fascinating world of the Romans to life. From re-enactments, talks and workshops to guided tours, family activities and crafts, there's something for everyone.
Chichester Roman Week takes place every May half term and celebrates Chichester's rich Roman heritage with a series of district-wide events designed to engage visitors of all ages.
Originally organised in response to public feedback, Chichester Roman Week is an established highlight of Chichester District's events calendar. Taking place every May half term, the engaging, community focused week-long event offers something for everyone to enjoy, from talks, tours and craft activities to creative workshops.
Chichester was first established as Noviomagnus Reginorum, which translates to 'New market of the proud people' after the Roman invasion in AD43. Their legacy can be found across the city, including magnificent features such as the Roman walls surrounding the city and the Roman bathhouse located in The Novium Museum.
This year's Chichester Roman Week will take place from Monday, 27 May - Saturday, 1 June. Find out more about the events taking place in and around Chichester this half term below.
